A month of updates! Part 3

Aunt Rose, aka Uncle Ray's mom, did a fun craft with the kids.  They collected pretty leaves and framed them.

Field trip #2, The Wildlife Experience.  Neat place, but it needs a new name.  The only living creatures on exhibit were a few fish and snakes.  Everything else was dead and stuffed.  And motorized.    Braxton was thrilled to be in this picture, can't you tell?

I think Sadie is trying to look at her nose!

I about had to drag Sadie away from this wolf statue.  She kept pointing at it and "talking" to it.

We got to walk inside of the model of the Megalodon.  It's almost like we were Jonah!

We did a little paleontology work.

 And played in a mirror.

 Some stuffed wildlife.

We went on a scavenger hunt to find lots of different animals.  Adeline really enjoyed that!

A woodpecker that actually pecked.

These people in the exhibits were really creepy!  They moved their heads to look at you and blink.

 A coral reef exhibit.
 Sadie practicing "Cheeeese!"

 Something alive!!  :)

This was really neat.  It's an underwater scene that was projected on the floor.  The fish reacted to your movements by swimming away from you.

Game time!  The kids filled up this machine with "snowballs" until an avalanche formed.

 Adeline played a trivia game.

And Braxton explored water systems.

We tried on a few animal costumes, then it was time for the snake show.

The presenter brought out a snake, which for the life of me I cannot remember what kind it was, and taught us about the two ways snakes kill their prey - with venom or squeezing them to death.  The snake she brought out was the squeezy kind.  We learned about cold blooded animals and examined a snake skeleton and skin shed.

Then we got to touch the snake.  If anyone knows what kind it is, please let me know!

Afterward, we headed into the little kids' play area.  They had a great collection of animal books with puppets to match.  We read about a poor little hippopotamus that wanted to be anything except a hippopotamus!

And the kids tried on some more costumes.  Here is Zebra Braxton howling on a cliff.  Hmm, think we need to do some animal studies!

Our trip to Colorado concluded with one more batch of cookies!

Thanks, Rose & Jay!  We had a great time!!
